Information that may be associated with a requirement
- unique identifier
- organizational information--for example, what are the parents/children of the requirement, its category or type
- method of validation
- item(s) that satisfy the requirement
- source of requirement (legal citation, business policy, etc.)
- association with the test plan/tests(s)
- requirement owners (subject matter expert, analyst)
- requirement status
- requirement change history
- WBS code
- risk
- priority
- cost (estimate and actual)
- degree of difficulty
- metrics
- justification for the requirement
- cross-references to other requirements or documents
- comments
Some information associated with requirements may be gathered using templates. Remember that the information must be maintained. Select only necessary information to keep maintenance overhead down. Poorly maintained information is worse than none.
