A METHOD FOR MEASURING REQUIREMENT QUALITY

Many organizations require numerical results for measurements rather than results such as "poor, acceptable, good, excellent."

The first step in this requirement quality measurement method is to create a checklist of the requirements quality factors that will be used in your requirements review. A partial requirements quality checklist is included in the appendices of the requirements management plan template on the Requirements Management page.

The second step is to weight each quality factor according to its importance. The total weight of all the factors should be 100.

The total score for quality starts at 100%. The amount for an unmet quality factor is subtracted from the total. So, if all quality factors are met except Quality factor C, 10 is subtracted from 100, resulting in a final score of 90%.
